The British military intelligence has published its latest report on the state of the conflict.
Today, one of the main conclusions was announced by Defense Minister John Healy while addressing the relevant committee of the House of Commons: the front is currently less stable than it has been at any time since the early stages of the conflict, he stated (referring to the first few weeks following February 24, 2022).
Before the invasion of Ukraine, Russia aimed to build a modern and combat-ready army trained to conduct complex combined operations, according to British intelligence. Over 1000 days later, the Russian ground forces are radically different from that army, in a negative way.
Russian casualties, both killed and wounded, exceed 700,000, claims British intelligence.
The majority of personnel have undergone minimal training. In their offensives, Russian commanders employ the simplest tactics of "human wave attacks," despite the associated high casualties.
Russia has also lost 3,500 tanks and 7,500 armored vehicles. The only way to replenish these losses remains the large stockpiles of equipment inherited from the Soviet Union, the report states.
However, despite the enormous costs, throughout 2024, Russian territorial advances have accelerated. The main reasons for this are the Russian leadership's tolerance for high human losses and the quantitative superiority of Russian ground forces over the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In these conditions, "the front line is now less stable than at any moment since the early stages of the conflict," British intelligence writes.
