For the first time, GUR fighters used the Magura V5 marine drone to destroy a helicopter.

Another enemy helicopter was shot down; however, it managed to reach its base airfield.

On Tuesday, December 31, soldiers from the secret unit Group 13 made history by striking an aerial target using the Magura V5 strike marine drone, equipped with missile armament. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“During a battle in the Black Sea near Cape Tarkhankut in the temporarily occupied Crimea, a Russian Mi-8 helicopter was destroyed as a result of the use of P-73 SeeDragon missiles,” the GUR report states.

Another similar enemy helicopter sustained damage from fire but managed to reach its base airfield, the intelligence agency adds.

Additionally, the Magura V5 is a Ukrainian multipurpose surface drone developed for the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The drone has been recognized as the most effective during the Russo-Ukrainian war. As of July 2024, it has inflicted fire damage on 14 Russian ships, eight of which were completely destroyed.
