In Ukraine, basic military training will be extended to two months.

Currently, this term is 30 days.
Базовую военную подготовку в Украине продлят до двух месяцев.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is set to establish conditions for basic general military training of recruits to last 2 months, instead of the previous 30-day training period. This was reported on Friday, December 27, by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

“We already have the first groups of servicemen who completed basic general military training in 1.5 months. The further course for newcomers in the military unit is planned for 5-14 days,” wrote Oleksandr Syrskyi on Telegram.

However, the Commander-in-Chief noted that in the context of intense combat operations, the 14-day adaptation period for recruits in brigades is not always adhered to.

It is important to mention that, according to the new Mobilization Law, which came into effect on May 18, basic military training (BMT) has been introduced in place of conscription for citizens in Ukraine. Currently, BMT lasts three months – one month of basic general military training and two months of specialized training.

As written by ZAXID.NET, basic military training is mandatory for those who have not served in the military. BMT is designed to prepare every individual to perform tasks in both peacetime and wartime under combat conditions.
