The Azerbaijani opposition demands that Putin apologize for the plane incident and put an end to the war in Ukraine.

"Due to Putin's regime war, other nations are suffering," emphasized the opposition party.
Азербайджанская оппозиция требует от Путина извинений за инцидент с самолетом и прекращения войны в Украине.

The Azerbaijani opposition party "Musavat" has issued a statement demanding an apology from Moscow for the damage caused to an Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft over Grozny.

Putin is also urged to put an end to the war, which has “led to the mass slaughter of the peoples of Ukraine and Russia, and has inflicted significant losses on other nations,” according to the statement published in the Turan outlet.

The party described as "horrific" the fact that after the “attack by Russia on the Azerbaijani plane,” it was not allowed to make an emergency landing in Grozny, Mineralnye Vody, and Makhachkala.

“Moreover, due to the use of electronic warfare systems by the Russian military to neutralize drones, the Azerbaijani plane was completely out of communication for an extended period,” the statement noted.

Furthermore, "Musavat" demands an apology from the Russian authorities for the tragedy, the accountability of all those responsible, and compensation for the families of the deceased and the injured.

The party has called on the Kremlin to stop the war in Ukraine.

“The Putin regime must end the aggressive war that has led to the mass slaughter of the peoples of Ukraine and Russia, as well as inflicted significant losses on other nations.”

It is noted that although the Azerbaijani authorities have stated that they expect Russia to acknowledge the facts and apologize through individual deputies, media, and political institutions, they have not officially demanded this yet.

“The 'Musavat' party calls on the authorities to take a more principled stance on this issue,” the Turan statement quotes.

“Musavat” is one of the leading opposition parties in Azerbaijan. In September, it participated in parliamentary elections for the first time in 15 years, but did not win a seat in parliament.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has yet to comment on the preliminary investigation results, which indicated that the aircraft was damaged by a Russian missile.

For now, the response from the Azerbaijani authorities has been limited to a statement from the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, Rashad Nabiyev.

He stated that the debris of the aircraft and witness testimonies provided grounds to suggest that the aircraft suffered external interference. “The type of weapon used in the external interference will be determined by the investigation,” he added.

Recall that the day before, Azerbaijani parliament member Rasim Musabekov, who previously was also part of “Musavat,” called on Russia to apologize.

A source in the administration of the President of Azerbaijan informed the Day.Az publication that the country will not accept the assistance promised by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
