He discussed this in his blog.
“Here, attention to detail is crucial – even after a ceasefire. This means that the authors of the material clearly acknowledge that one of the possible scenarios for ending this war – since it will definitely not be the main one – could be a ceasefire and a truce regime. This can only be guaranteed temporarily; a ceasefire does not equate to a permanent peace. However, the use of the term ‘after the truce’ suggests that this scenario is being considered,” notes Alexander Musienko.
Additionally, he explains that the authors compare the Russian-Ukrainian war to the Korean War of 1953, mentioning the potential introduction of a European contingent, while representatives from the Biden and Trump administrations privately acknowledge that Russian troops will retain about 20% of Ukrainian territory.
“Well, comparing our scenario to the Korean one is not entirely accurate, even though the Constitution of South Korea applies to both the North and the South, many countries recognize North Korea. Nonetheless, there are two Koreas there, while our situation is different. However, it is interesting to note that when we talk about Korea, we should remember the security guarantees, as Seoul received a very serious package of such guarantees: the permanent deployment of an American base, American bombers, and nuclear weapons,” comments Alexander Musienko.
In his opinion, when discussing the Korean scenario, the focus should not be on establishing the 38th parallel but on the security guarantees of South Korea, because that is what Ukraine is demanding. Regarding the introduction of foreign contingents, the expert adds that the Declaration on 100 Years of Partnership with Britain mentions the possible establishment of British military bases in Ukraine.
As reported by Znay.ua, Karas discussed whether Ukrainians can truly expect a ceasefire in the war with the Russian Federation.
