The current administration of U.S. President Joe Biden plans to submit a request to Congress for new assistance for Ukraine for the fiscal year 2025 during the transition period. This was announced by U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, reports “Ukrinform.”
Sullivan did not clarify in what form the administration would propose additional funding to Congress. However, he noted that the current U.S. president's team believes it is essential to logically seek additional resources to support Ukraine.
According to the president's advisor, the current U.S. government intends to utilize every dollar that Congress has previously allocated for assistance to Ukraine.
“Once again, these are not dollars that will fly across the ocean. These are dollars that are invested in the American defense industrial base,” said Jake Sullivan.
The official pointed out that most of the allocated assistance is directed toward the creation of new weapons that the U.S. Army receives instead of those sent to aid Ukraine.
It is worth noting that Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder stated that the U.S. has already delivered 83% of the promised ammunition, 67% of air defense systems, and 60% of firepower after Congress approved an additional $61 billion in aid. As of November 12, the U.S. still had the capacity to provide over $9 billion in military assistance to Ukraine.
Additionally, on November 13, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured that the Biden administration would strengthen support for Ukraine before Donald Trump takes office as president in January 2025.
