This year, the government allocated 1.6 billion UAH for the purchase of approximately 460 school buses.

According to reports from the Ministry of Economy's press service.

It is noted that thanks to the subsidy, communities will be able to acquire new vehicles or replace those that were destroyed due to the war.

Purchases will take place through the e-catalog Prozorro Market, the relevant portion of which is administered by the state institution “Professional Procurement.” The procedure will last up to 10 days.

The subsidy funds will be directed to regions where the highest number of children need transportation to school but currently lack such opportunities. The state will cover 70 to 95% of the cost of the buses, depending on the financial capacity of the community. The remaining expenses will be compensated by local budgets.

Initially, the buses will be provided to the following educational institutions:

  • military lyceums (including naval and military-sports), whose students are not provided with accommodation and require transportation;
  • schools whose transport was destroyed as a result of the war or repurposed for military needs;
  • schools attended by students from communities where institutions have been damaged or destroyed;
  • supporting schools that will be established in 2025;
  • schools that will be optimized or reorganized in 2025;
  • other schools (with at least 100 students, priority given to those with larger student populations).

The “School Bus” program has been ongoing for the third year. During the 2023–2024 period, communities and schools purchased 1007 school buses through Prozorro Market.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that 7 territorial communities received school buses as part of the “Restoration of Local Schools for Resilience” initiative, implemented by the “U-LEAD with Europe” program with financial support from the European Commission's Service for Foreign Policy Instruments. These are schools that have been restored together with the “Brave” Charity Foundation in Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions.
