Wizz Air intends to resume flights to Ukraine shortly after Russia announces a ceasefire. Within six weeks of the airspace reopening, the airline plans to reinstate approximately 30 routes.

This was reported by Wizz Air's CEO, József Váradi, in an interview with Reuters.

“We have a clear plan to restart flights to Ukraine, as this could happen at any moment,” Váradi stated. He mentioned that following the official announcement of a ceasefire, the company would consider the possibility of quickly resuming flights.

According to the head of Wizz Air, estimates from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) suggest that it will take between six to eight weeks to safely reopen Ukraine's airspace. It was emphasized that the airline is already preparing for this process.

As reported, during the first six months after the cessation of hostilities, Wizz Air plans to restore operations at its bases in Kyiv and Lviv. The initial plan includes servicing 60 routes with an annual capacity of around 5 million passengers.

Before the onset of the full-scale war, Wizz Air held the third position in the Ukrainian market with a share of 10.1%.
