Today, February 12, the "Ramstein" meeting will be chaired for the first time by UK Secretary of State for Defence Jon Ghyly.
This was reported by the head of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.
"I am starting work at the meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG) in the 'Ramstein' format in Brussels. This is an important step in strengthening Ukraine's defense capability and coordinating further actions with allies," he stated.
According to Umerov, the new head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, will participate for the first time on behalf of the United States.

In addition to "Ramstein," other key events are expected throughout the week, namely: a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council at the level of defence ministers; the Munich Security Conference.
"I will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with the defense ministers of our allies. The main goal is to strengthen military cooperation and establish real mechanisms for supporting Ukraine," the minister added.
He also emphasized that Ukraine is ready for negotiations to end the war.
However, according to Umerov, "a just and lasting peace is only possible when Ukraine is strong on the battlefield."
