Швеція визначила своє ключове зовнішньополітичне завдання.

Support for Ukraine is a top foreign policy priority for the Swedish government. Sweden will also promote security cooperation, gender equality, and the empowerment of women.

This is stated in the announcement by Sweden's Foreign Minister, Maria Malmer Stenergard.

“This year’s foreign policy declaration comes at a challenging time regarding security policy. We – Sweden, the EU, and NATO – are in a long-term and far-reaching confrontation with Russia. The Russian Federation will continue to pose a serious threat to security in Europe, regardless of the outcome of the war in Ukraine. Our task is unavoidable: we must counter Russia's ability to harm us, not least by supporting Ukraine,” Stenergard stated.

The statement notes that Sweden is increasing its support for Ukraine, with the total amount since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion being approximately 70 billion Swedish kronor.

“For Sweden, supporting Ukraine is not only a moral obligation but also an investment in the security, independence, and freedom of Europe and our own,” emphasized Stenergard.

She also mentioned that Sweden will continue to strengthen security together with others, especially as a member of the EU and NATO.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the Swedish government will provide Ukraine with its largest military aid package since the beginning of the full-scale war, amounting to 13.5 billion Swedish kronor ($1.23 billion).
