Foreigners in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will now undergo polygraph testing, according to the Ministry of Defense.

Those who are already serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine can undergo such a check at the initiative of the Security Service of Ukraine or the unit's command.

The government has approved mandatory polygraph testing for foreigners who wish to serve under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and the State Special Transport Service.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense press service.

The psychophysiological examination using a polygraph will be conducted by the newly established Center for Recruiting Foreigners and Stateless Persons, with the involvement of specialists from the Ministry of Defense and the National Guard. This will be carried out in the language that the candidate understands, as stated in the announcement.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the polygraph will be mandatory for candidates applying for officer positions and roles with access to state secrets, but it will also be required for candidates who have provided questionable information about themselves.

Foreign military personnel already serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine may undergo such testing at the initiative of the Security Service of Ukraine or the unit's command, according to the press service.

“Candidates must provide written consent to undergo the examination and must not have any medical contraindications. Refusal to take the polygraph test may result in denial of military service acceptance,” the Ministry of Defense added.

According to the government resolution, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have one month to update the relevant regulations after it comes into effect.
