The command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine responded to the reassignment of critically needed specialists from the engineering and aviation service to infantry units. The General Staff had previously commented on this same issue.
Acting Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Anatoliy Kryvonozhko, reported this via Telegram.
“Considering the media resonance regarding the transfer of specialists from the engineering and aviation service to units of other branches and types of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, I officially announce – such transfers will not take place! This also applies to other critical specialties within the Air Force,” the statement reads.
It is noted that there are also no plans to transfer individuals who have trained abroad on Western equipment for anti-aircraft missile troops, as well as prepared soldiers from mobile fire groups and other narrowly specialized specialists, for whom finding replacements is “objectively difficult.”
The Air Force emphasized that the situation at the front “indeed requires difficult decisions” from the higher military leadership, particularly concerning the transfer of Air Force personnel to units of other branches and types of the Armed Forces.
“The Air Force has been reinforcing our combat brothers at the front line for more than a year, primarily concerning units being trained based on the Combined Arms Brigade of the Air Force, which are fighting in the hottest areas of the front,” Kryvonozhko added.
In addition, according to the decisions made, the Air Force is gradually transferring a designated number of personnel to ground units to bolster brigades on the front line. However, as specified, this will not apply to critical specialties and specialists involved in tasks performed by combat aviation.
“I would like to note that we are constantly working to strengthen our anti-aircraft missile units, improving the operational system of mobile fire groups, and enhancing the effectiveness of the aviation component, and this development of the Air Force will continue,” the Acting Commander of the Air Force added.
Reminder: Previously, the General Staff reacted to the transfer of aviation technicians to infantry. It is noted that the Air Force, on the contrary, is increasing the number of technical and flight personnel.
Reference.
Previously, Sergeant Vitaliy “Bart” Horzhevskyi, serving in the 114th Brigade of the Air Forces of Ukraine, published an appeal on his Facebook page on behalf of the aviation technicians and servicing personnel of the Air Forces of Ukraine. The appeal mentions mass cases of specialists being transferred to infantry.
“We, the aviation technical personnel of the Air Forces of Ukraine, have been fulfilling our responsible mission on MiG-29 fighters for over ten years. Since 2014, we have been preparing and servicing aircraft, ensuring combat sorties in the most challenging conditions: both day and night, protecting our homeland from the enemy,” it is stated in the appeal.
The military reports about a telegram in which almost all technicians are planned to be transferred to infantry. According to the soldiers, this will result in some units being left without technical personnel to service the aircraft. At the same time, it is not specified from whom exactly within the leadership this telegram originated.
According to military information, earlier 250 specialists had already been transferred to infantry, and now another 218 individuals are planned for transfer.
