UPDATED: A passenger plane from Azerbaijan Airlines has crashed in Kazakhstan.

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, is returning to Baku from Russia due to a catastrophe.

A passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines has crashed in Aktau, located in western Kazakhstan.

This was reported by Tengrinews.

It is noted that the aircraft was en route from Baku to Grozny.

The moment of the plane's fall was captured on video.

Preliminary reports indicate that there were over 60 passengers and 5 crew members on board. 

UPDATED: After the plane crash, 6 individuals survived. This was announced by Kazakhstan's Minister of Health, Akmaral Alnazarova.

There were 67 passengers and 5 crew members aboard the crashed aircraft.

The Embraer E190AR plane on the Baku – Grozny flight had transmitted code 7700 (emergency signal) and requested landing at an alternate airport.

The cause of the disaster may have been a collision with a flock of birds.

Russian sources are already promoting a theory implicating Ukraine, allegedly due to a drone attack on Grozny.

UPDATED. The Telegram channel Baza claims that more than 60 citizens of Russia were on this flight.

12 survivors of the plane crash in Kazakhstan have been taken to the hospital. They were located in the tail section of the aircraft. This was reported by Tengrinews, citing the regional Ministry of Health. Among these 12 individuals, there is one child. Earlier, it was reported that six people had survived. UPDATED. According to the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, 16 citizens of the Russian Federation were on board the crashed plane. Preliminary data suggests that 25 individuals survived. In total, there were 67 people aboard the aircraft, as reported by local authorities.

UPDATED. According to Russian media, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, is returning to Baku from Russia in light of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash.

It is noted that on December 25, Aliyev was scheduled to attend the CIS summit taking place near St. Petersburg.
