On Wednesday, January 15, Russian occupiers launched a massive attack on Ukraine using strike drones and cruise missiles. As a result of the shelling, the company "Ukrenergo" implemented emergency power outages in several regions, reported the company's press service.
Explosions were heard in the eastern and western parts of Ukraine. The threat of enemy drones persisted from approximately midnight, with the shelling of cruise missiles starting around 06:00.
The Minister of Energy, German Galushchenko, was the first to report the outages resulting from the shelling. He stated that preventive measures were being implemented in some regions.
Later, the press service of "Ukrenergo" announced that as of 08:00, emergency outages were affecting seven regions of Ukraine:
It is currently unknown whether the night shelling will lead to scheduled outages in Ukraine.
As of 08:15, there is no information on the consequences of the Russian attack on the energy infrastructure. Explosions were reported in Kharkiv, Cherkasy, and Lviv regions, while missiles were detected in the airspace of almost all regions.
According to Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, the Russians attacked the energy infrastructure in the Lviv region – earlier, the Air Forces reported the movement of cruise missiles towards Stryi. However, no outages have been implemented in the Lviv region so far.
Subsequently, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, reported that there were hits on two critical infrastructure facilities in the Drohobych and Stryi districts. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Additionally, a missile was recorded falling in the village of Sknyliv in the Zolochiv district of Lviv region – the enemy projectile damaged a residential building and an outbuilding, creating a crater 2.5 meters deep in the ground.
