In Lviv, a man died due to a head-on collision between vehicles.

On Omelyana Kovcha Street in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Lviv, on Wednesday, January 29, vehicles Honda Civic and Renault Megane collided. As a result of the accident, a man died at the scene. There is also information about a 42-year-old victim. The details of the incident were confirmed to ZAXID.NET by the State Emergency Service and the police.

The 42-year-old man was rescued from the vehicle by firefighters. He is currently in the emergency hospital.

“One victim died before the medical team arrived. He was approximately 35 years old. Another injured person is 42 years old and has an open fracture of the knee joint. The man has been hospitalized in the emergency hospital,” reported ZAXID.NET from the press service of the Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Assistance.

Updated January 30. The police of Lviv region reported that the 26-year-old driver of the Honda Civic died at the scene. The other driver, aged 29, was hospitalized with injuries.

The police investigators have opened a criminal proceeding under the article concerning traffic safety violations (part 2 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The penalty for this article includes up to eight years in prison and the revocation of driving rights.
