Midfielder Taras Stepanenko has concluded his time with Shakhtar Donetsk, as reported by the press service of the "miners". The match against Borussia Dortmund (1:3) in the 8th round of the Champions League's main stage marked the final appearance for the long-time captain in the orange and black jersey.
Recall that Stepanenko joined Shakhtar from Zaporizhzhia Metalurh in July 2010. Over his 15 seasons, he played 439 matches for the Donetsk club, scoring 29 goals and providing 25 assists, making him the fifth-longest serving player in the club's history.
During his time at Shakhtar, Taras won 25 trophies – becoming Ukrainian champion 10 times, winning the Cup 8 times, and lifting the Super Cup 7 times. He also represented the Ukrainian national team in 87 matches, scoring 4 goals. Transfermarkt values the player at €1.5 million.
According to media reports, the 35-year-old Ukrainian will continue his career in the Turkish league. He is expected to sign a contract with Eyupspor, which is currently fourth in the Super Lig standings.
