In the night and morning of Wednesday, January 15, Russia launched an attack on the Lviv region using Shahed drones and cruise missiles. There were hits on two critical infrastructure facilities in the Drohobych and Stryi districts. Due to a missile falling in the village of Sknyliv in the Zolochiv district, houses were damaged, and an unexploded missile was discovered in the Stryi region.
Air raid alerts in Lviv region began at 1:40 AM due to the movement of enemy drones from neighboring regions. The head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, reported that the UAVs in the airspace of the region frequently change their course.
“This time, the drones are flying very low. They are harder to detect,” he stated.
At 2:54 AM, he added that one drone was shot down by air defense. There were no casualties or injuries from the falling debris.
Following this, the air raid alert in Lviv region was lifted; however, it became known that the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded the takeoff of a group of Tu-95MS from the Olenya airfield in the Murmansk region. Due to the aircraft's approach to launch positions, a second air raid alert began at 6:17 AM in Lviv region. At 7:40 AM, missiles heading towards Stryi through Lviv were recorded.
Later, Maksym Kozytskyi reported that as a result of the missile strikes, there were hits on two critical infrastructure facilities in the Drohobych and Stryi districts. The falling missile in the village of Sknyliv in the Zolochiv district damaged a residential building and an outbuilding. There were no casualties or injuries. A crater about 2.5 meters deep formed near the house. The blast wave damaged the roofs of nearby houses.
“The region's life support systems are operating normally. There are currently no power outages being implemented,” the head of the regional administration added.
Additionally, in one of the villages of the Stryi district, debris from a missile and one unexploded missile were discovered in a field. Bomb disposal experts were dispatched to the scene.
Recall that the last time Russia attacked Lviv region was on October 25. At that time, four enemy drones were shot down over the region, and there were no casualties or destruction.
