Ukraine has received its first financial assistance of $100 million from South Korea. This was announced on Friday, November 29, by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
According to Denys Shmyhal, the funds provided by South Korea will be directed towards supporting the social sector.
“This year, an agreement was signed between our governments, which will allow us to attract up to $2.1 billion. I am grateful to the Republic of Korea for supporting Ukraine in the conditions of a full-scale war,” wrote Denys Shmyhal.
Additionally, on November 27, Ukraine's Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov visited the capital of South Korea, Seoul, where he met with the country's President Yoon Suk Yeol, Defense Minister Kim Yong-gwon, and National Security Director Shin Won-sik. According to Rustem Umerov, he reported on the involvement of North Korean military personnel in the Russian war against Ukraine. Following the meeting, Rustem Umerov expressed hope that “our arguments for the necessity of increasing cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea will lead to a significant strengthening of security for our peoples and regions.”
Let us remind you that South Korea has committed to allocate $6 million to support the initiative for the export of Ukrainian grain, “Grain from Ukraine.” This program aims to provide Ukrainian grain to countries facing a food crisis.
