Police seized 530 kg of amber from an underground workshop in the Rivne region.

In the Rivne region, the police uncovered an underground amber processing workshop and seized over 530 kg of amber. Law enforcement conducted 14 searches, and 11 suspects are involved in the case.

As stated in a report from the police on February 12, 14 searches were carried out in Rivne region, resulting in the seizure of over 530 kg of amber, which is valued at over one million hryvnias according to "black market" prices.

The police established that four residents of the Sarny district had involved several fellow villagers in the illegal extraction, processing, and sale of raw amber.

On February 11, law enforcement uncovered one of the group's members: a 20-year-old resident of the village of Tynne was found packaging and processing amber in a specially equipped facility.

Police officers and special forces conducted 14 searches at 11 participants of the criminal scheme, as well as at the underground workshop where amber was processed. Investigators discovered and seized over 530 kilograms of amber, storage equipment, and a machine for processing the stone.

The question of notifying the perpetrators of suspicion for committing a crime under part 2 of article 240-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal extraction, sale, acquisition, transfer, shipment, transportation, processing of amber) is being resolved. All seized items will be sent for examination.
