On January 30, Christians of the Eastern rite celebrate the Feast of the Three Hierarchs, commemorating Basil the Great, John Chrysostom, and Gregory the Theologian. UNIAN shares that this is a special holiday with its own traditions and prohibitions.
According to popular belief, on this day, one should not spin or knit. Violating this prohibition may lead to pain in the hands and feet. However, men are not prohibited from working – in fact, all work done today is said to be successful.
On this day, it is strictly forbidden to punish or scold children – breaking this rule may result in the child becoming perpetually disobedient.
Additionally, on the Feast of the Three Hierarchs, it is prohibited to go into the woods to avoid being influenced by mystical energies. Wearing red clothing is also discouraged on this day, as this color is considered a symbol of anger, which should not be expressed today.
