On the Kyiv-Chop highway near the village of Solonka, close to Lviv, a ZIL truck struck a pedestrian, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. The National Police of Lviv region reported the incident.
According to a report from the police, the accident occurred on November 4 at 18:45 on the Kyiv-Chop highway near the village of Solonka in the Lviv district. Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of the ZIL truck, a 35-year-old resident of one of the villages in the area, hit the pedestrian, a 64-year-old man from Kyiv region. The pedestrian died at the scene due to injuries sustained in the accident.
A well-known Lviv lawyer, Oleg Mytsyk, witnessed the accident. He wrote on his Facebook page that the deceased was the truck driver, who had parked his vehicle near the ATB supermarket. According to him, the man was crossing an unlit road (three lanes) to reach the supermarket when he was struck by the ZIL.
In connection with the accident, investigators have opened a criminal case under part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty under this article includes imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, along with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years or without such deprivation. Law enforcement officials are determining the circumstances of the incident.
