In Bukovina, a four-year-old boy fell into a deep well and tragically lost his life. The unfortunate incident occurred after lunch on January 29 in the village of Velykyi Kochuriv. Local residents called for rescuers to assist in retrieving the child from the depths.
A report was made to the Rescue Service about the child falling into the well in the village and showing no signs of life shortly after lunch on January 29. Rescuers from the Firefighting Group of the Emergency Rescue Squad of Special Purpose immediately headed to the scene. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Chernivtsi Oblast.
“In collaboration with local residents, the emergency responders retrieved the body of the boy from a depth of about 20 meters, but he was already without signs of life. Despite the efforts made by medical personnel and all resuscitation measures taken, the child could not be saved,” – stated the State Emergency Service of Bukovina.
Law enforcement officials also arrived at the scene. They have opened a criminal investigation into the child's death under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Murder with the note of an accident). Currently, all circumstances surrounding this event are being established.
Rescuers, along with juvenile police, urge parents to remain vigilant and never leave children unattended under any circumstances. Such actions can expose children to danger.
