On Tuesday morning, November 5, an explosion occurred in an apartment of a multi-story building in the city of Sheptytsky in Lviv Oblast. According to preliminary information, a training grenade detonated.
The report about the incident came in around 5:00 AM. The explosion took place in an apartment on Shevchenko Avenue, 9. Emergency services, firefighters, and police were dispatched to the scene.
As stated by Ivan Vasko, head of the emergency situations department of the Sheptytsky city council, the incident was likely caused by careless handling of a training grenade.
“It has been established that a woman was present in the apartment with a young child and her husband, who was most likely disassembling the grenade's fuse. The fuse exploded, injuring the man's hand, but he refused hospitalization,” – said Ivan Vasko.
The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by law enforcement authorities.
