Львовский горсовет утвердил новую организацию движения на улице Стрыйской.

On Tuesday, October 29, the Executive Committee of the Lviv City Council approved a change in traffic organization on certain sections of Striyska Street, which includes increasing dedicated lanes for public transport, organizing pedestrian crossings, and sidewalks. All work will be co-financed by developers constructing near these intersections.

This concerns the intersection of Striyska Street and Rubchak Street, the reconstruction of which will be financed by LLC "Atrium Estate," the construction of a third lane for public transport, and the establishment of a pedestrian zone with a bike path at the intersection of Karl Miklyosh Street and Striyska Street, which will be co-financed by LLC "Green Plaza Lviv," as well as the change of traffic organization at the intersection of Naukovaya Street, Striyska Street, and St. John Paul II Avenue.

New traffic organization scheme on Striyska Street in Lviv

The head of the Department of Mobility and Street Infrastructure, Oleg Zabarilo, explained that the project for changing the traffic organization on Striyska Street was developed in collaboration and with the funding of the German Society for International Cooperation GIZ.

“The key changes we are anticipating here include the introduction of public transport priority, particularly through dedicated lanes. We propose to utilize the existing width of the roadway. On the main section of Striyska Street, there are three lanes of non-standard width. The total width is 12.6 m, and within this width, we can convert three lanes into four,” Oleg Zabarilo explained.

For passenger cars on Striyska Street, there will still be three lanes in each direction, while a dedicated fourth lane will be designated for public transport. This scheme will be implemented in several phases, and a separate plan will be developed for each intersection, which will still need to be approved by the police. Work will begin in 2025 with the least problematic segments from the standpoint of traffic organization.

It should be noted that the updated traffic organization scheme on Striyska Street was previously approved by the city traffic safety commission. More details on the essence of the changes can be found in the article on ZAXID.NET.

Additionally, the reconstruction of the intersection of Striyska Street and Heroes of Maidan Street is not included in this project, as this area depends on the future organization of public space at the entrance to the Bohdan Khmelnytsky Culture and Recreation Park and in Striysky Park. Changes are also planned for the section from Lityna Street to Striysky Market. However, this will be part of another separate project aimed at reorganizing the specified section of Striyska Street and Rustaveli Street.
