The International Biathlon Union (IBU) announced on its social media channels that the captain of the Ukrainian biathlon team, Dmytro Pidruchnyi, has been named the best biathlete of the week at the World Cup.
In a fan poll following the Oberhof stage, our compatriot outperformed French athlete Paula Botet, who secured her debut gold at the World Cup level, as well as Norwegian Maren Kirkedal and Bulgarian Milena Todorova.
It is worth noting that in his first start of 2025, Pidruchnyi matched his personal best at the World Cup stages, finishing fourth, and in the subsequent pursuit race, he claimed sixth place, making it to the flower ceremony for the second consecutive time.
Dmytro also made a mark in the Ukrainian team during the classic mixed relay at Oberhof. In terms of clean time for the third leg, Pidruchnyi was only surpassed by Frenchman Eric Perrot and German Philipp Navrat. During the shooting, the Ukrainian only needed one additional cartridge.
Currently, Pidruchnyi stands fourteenth in the overall World Cup rankings, making him the first Ukrainian to achieve this distinction. Dmytro will continue his performances at the stage in Ruhpolding, and his participation in the 2025 European Championship has also been announced for the Ukrainian team.
