The State Bureau of Investigation uncovered a Ukrainian soldier who was employed at an occupation prison in the Kherson region.

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigations announced suspicions of collaboration against a resident of Kherson region who worked for the Russians at one of the occupied correctional facilities. This was reported on Wednesday, February 12, by the press service of the SBI.

According to the investigation, during the temporary occupation of part of Kherson region, the suspect voluntarily took a position at the "Daryivska Correctional Colony No. 10". Since June 2022, he has held the position of "junior inspector of the security department," for which he received a salary in rubles.

“After the de-occupation of Kherson region, the man remained in the territory controlled by Ukraine. He concealed his cooperation with the invaders and moved to another region, where he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” law enforcement officials say.

The SBI uncovered and detained the offender in Kharkiv region. He has been informed of the suspicion of voluntarily holding a position in an illegal occupying law enforcement agency on the temporarily occupied territory (part 7 of Article 111-1).

The offender is currently in custody. He faces up to 15 years in prison with asset confiscation.
